As the nation is continuing to choose who they support and want to associate themselves with for President, the idea of association is especially pertinent. Those we choose to associate with have a way of changing us, in small but gradual ways, the more we associate with them. The degree to which we associate with then is really the key — we are much more affected by our close family, spouses, and friends than acquaintances, work colleagues, and others. Since this is true, the formula to being more like Jesus is clear: spend more time with him than any other person in our lives. When we walk and talk and give our thoughts and hearts to him throughout each day, we will have no choice but to grow closer to him and be changed by him. Today, if you are seeking a stronger relationship with Jesus, start by spending more time with him than anyone else in your life.

“Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” — Psalm 1: 1-3 NIV
