The last few weeks has exposed many things about our society, some good, some bad, and some terrible. But God is closer than ever to us in these times of turmoil and crisis. While He does not escort us through life avoiding every pitfall, He does give us the peace of mind and confidence in our abilities to confront what needs to be changed in our world. In John, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” In times of inexplicable tragedy, Jesus beckons us to look for God's gift. It can always be found when He is glorified above what ails our society. Today, pray for those hurt in the last few weeks of turmoil in our nation and reflect on the gifts Jesus has given you in your darkest moments and how they have shaped your life.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." – John 14:27
