Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of a young child receiving a gift that showed him he is not alone. Two-year-old Bentley was born with a cleft lip. Recently, his father went to a local animal shelter looking for chickens, but noticed a little black-and-white puppy that also had a cleft lip. He adopted the dog immediately and gave it to his son. Bentley and the puppy have become fast friends and Bentley’s mom said for her son to “have something in common with a puppy means a lot because he can grow up and understand that he and his puppy have something they can share in common.” It is a simply story, but one that shows that there is real power in knowing that we are not alone in our problems.

We all have struggles in life, whether they be physical, spiritual, or emotional. One thing that we all have experienced when going through them is a feeling that we are alone, or the only ones facing what we are facing. However, this could not be further from the truth. Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” There are many Biblical truths to this, but one we often overlook is that when we are together, pouring out our hearts to each other and to the Lord, we cannot help but connect with others who are dealing with the same struggles we are. When we share our struggles and lift them up together to Jesus, Jesus provides the support we all need. Today, if you are struggling with something and feeling like you are the only one experiencing it, reach out to someone and pray together.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” – Matthew 18:20 NIV
