Most news these days centers on what each political party is saying about the other, and what the response from that party is. The endless back and forth has always been part of our nation’s political discourse, but in recent years has turned personal, rude, and destructive. There is something in all of us that makes us want to fire back when someone attacks us, and in some of us, something that makes us want to fire first. When we communicate via verbal gunfire and bombs, we can’t hope for anything but mutual destruction. It is foolish. Something all fools have in common is that they are easily angered and prone to fighting. The Bible says, “It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.” Today, if you find that each day in your life is filled with drama, quarrels, and bitterness, spend more time reading your Bible than consuming media. Wisdom comes from knowing what to change in your life to make it better.
