Politics has become a religion for many these days, with their favorite politicians becoming the ones they serve first and derive their righteousness from. But politics isn’t alone in this; too many, even professed Christians, still worship things like money, fame, or power more than the Lord. God gave us a commandment, saying, “You shall have no other gods before me.” The god we worship is the thing that rules our life, that we serve first, and that we make our decisions because of. It’s easy to be a Christian when that lines up with our earthly beliefs, it’s hard when it does not. In those times, we must trust that the Creator of the universe knows better than we do. Today, if you feel yourself prioritizing politics or some other thing above the Lord, make a change and place God in his rightful place in your life.

“You shall have no other gods before me.” — Exodus 20:3 ESV
