Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story that truly exemplifies what a cheerful giver is. 23-year-old John Capron is a college student in Boston who is a self-taught pianist. Recently, he was caught on video playing “Don’t Stop Believin’” on an old $200 piano in a local antique store and the video went viral, bringing huge attention to the store. Since he was wearing a face mask, speculation over the mystery pianist ran wild. Capron identified himself to the store owner, Mark Waters, who offered to give him the piano for free! When Capron came to pick it up, he was surprised to find that Waters had something else in mind – a $3000 Steinway and Sons piano. Waters’ gift brought Capron to tears. Waters said, “To see him cry made me cry. It’s just going to sit here, so if you can bring it into somebody else’s life and bring it back to life, then God bless America, you know what I mean? That’s what life’s about! I wish I could do this every day!” That is, indeed, what life is all about!

We all know the verse in 2 Corinthians, that “God loves a cheerful giver.” Sometimes we can all forget the joy we can bring into the world, not just to ourselves and the recipient, when we give cheerfully. The world truly is a brighter place when cheerful givers give freely. Today, be a cheerful giver and bring the joy we all need into the world through your actions.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
