"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV One of the greatest holidays the US celebrates each year is Memorial Day. Among the many aspects that make this day special, one worth noting is that it is one of the few days each year that is free from politics. No matter where you fall politically, we all can celebrate the brave men and women who have given their lives for us to live free, and to even have a political opinion! The Bible tells us in John that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for friends. Such is the love demonstrated by those soldiers we memorialize today. While we as Christians receive our innate freedom from Jesus, today we pause to remember the fallen and thank Jesus for the brave men and women who volunteer to face evil on our behalf, and if the day requires it, lay down their lives for us. There is no greater love than that.
