We are living in an era when our leaders have never had a larger megaphone with which to broadcast their message. That makes it's even more imperative we elect leaders whose motives are in line with our values as a society. Jesus pioneered the concept of a servant leader, someone who leads by serving others first. A fact of humanity is that we are always serving someone; that is where our motives come from. If you seek greatness, serve the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of self. If you don't personally seek greatness or notoriety, seek those who act selflessly, who help others before themselves, as elected leaders. Pray today for our future leaders to possess a humble heart driven towards servant leadership, and for our current leaders to share the same.
"And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -- Mark 10:42-45 ESV
