Over the weekend, much of the news centered around the changing advisers and staff closest to our President. Whether it was new faces like Anthony Scaramucci entering, familiar faces like Gen. John Kelly changing roles, or well-known faces like Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus leaving, it has led to a media frenzy speculating as to who really has the President's ear. Having trusted advisers is a good thing, because in life, the way we learn meaningful lessons is through mistakes: either others' or our own. Some believe we are wise if we have learned from many mistakes in our lives. While that may be true late in life, would it not have been preferable to avoid some of those mistakes along the way? And is a life lived between mistakes really the best we can hope for? No. Fortunately, we have a God who has created us, prepared a way for us, and above all, loves us; He created us to turn to Him for advice. John writes "I can do nothing on my own...because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me." Consulting Jesus on everything, from the mundane to the critical, not only places Him first in our lives, but allows Him to guide our path. Life is good when you make good decisions. Jesus does not advise poorly. While we cannot know if Jesus has the ear of our President, we can know these two things: Jesus hears our prayers and is present for those who call upon Him. This week, pray for the leaders of our nation and call on Jesus to be your adviser.
