As Floridians and Texans return home, many are greeted by piles of rubble and water-logged wood scraps. It is a sight that no one would wish upon their most bitter rival, and yet it is reality for thousands and thousands of people in our country. For us, it is hard to imagine what it would be like to have everything we own and love on this earth ripped away from us in a matter of days. As Christians, many of our beliefs center on the fact that Jesus is our rock, our foundation, and the only thing in life that we cannot live without. We like to imagine that we would be strong enough in our faith that if everything were taken from us tomorrow, we would still praise the name of Jesus. It is a powerful thought, but such sacrifice is seldom required by our God from us. Especially us living in the US, most will live relatively comfortable lives of faith and praise. But for those who are not so blessed, whose sacrifice is necessary to God in order to fulfill His plan, we should all be praying for their strength, endurance, and unshakable faith in Jesus and helping in any way we are able. In John, it says “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Pray today for the people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, that they may be rejuvenated in their faith and that through their sacrifice, Jesus may be glorified.
