As we continue to learn more about the shooter in Las Vegas, what is becoming more clear is how much we do not understand about him. In that absence of understanding, it is our nature to fill the gaps with our own assumptions based on our own viewpoint. The result becomes a tireless and overly politicized blame game, a game we already know will end in a bitter stalemate.
Blaming each other, or anything else for that matter, for the failures of the human soul helps no one. Of course we all have a desire to see justice served and move on as a community. But if in finding that justice we disintegrate the bonds that hold us together, what then? In Galatians, we are told to "bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." We have a choice in times like these: we can blame each other or bear each other's burdens. Blame flows from those not willing to bear the burdens of his fellow man. Today, instead of joining a side of the blame game, reach out to someone you know in need and shoulder their burden. Praise Jesus that He gives us the strength to carry on and band together in the wake of such tragedy.
"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." -- Galatians 6:2 ESV
