Yesterday, Secretary of Defense Mattis issued orders to the Army to be ready for potential conflict with North Korea. Although not an expressed declaration of war, this move is significant as it engages both our military and citizenry for potential action. In life, we are all met with opposition, and sometimes that opposition challenges our core beliefs. As unpopular as living a Christian life may be today in our society, Christians must be especially prepared to defend our beliefs in Christ. The idea of having to defend why we believe in Christ is a daunting one, and one of the main reasons why many Christians do not share their beliefs publicly. In 1 Peter, it says, "But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." A common misconception surrounding public profession of faith is that when we are challenged on our faith, if we are not Biblical scholars, then we will be deemed hypocritical or uneducated. However, with Jesus living inside us and the Holy Spirit guiding our words, we cannot go wrong by simply sharing how Jesus has changed our lives, personally. When confronted by challengers to your faith, let your testimony do the talking. Pray today for the courage to stand and share your testimony to those who may need to hear it as well as to those who seek to challenge the reason you have faith in Jesus Christ.

"But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." -- 1 Peter 3:15 ESV
