Seeing as yesterday was Election Day, it seems a good time to continue from yesterday's theme of honesty and following the Godly path. 2 Corinthians 8:21 says, "For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man." Doing what is right when consequences are minimal is easy. Instances when we decide not to go out with that group of friends liable to make poor decisions, or choose not to flip on raunchy pop songs on the radio on our drive to work, are simple decisions that align us with God and keep us on His path. However there is no real sacrifice involved in these daily decisions. Paul wrote to the Corinthians that we must "take pains to do what is right." We will face life changing temptation one day, and without an unbreakable commitment to Jesus, we will fail to make the hard choice. Knowing that there will be pain ahead by following Jesus will not prepare us for what the devil will throw at us, but will prepare us to make the hard choice when it comes. Living a Godly life demands painful sacrifice, but the reward, both here and in Heaven, is worth it. Today, pray for the strength and conviction to face the devil's temptation in life, and in Jesus' name, overcome it.

"For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man." -- 2 Corinthians 8:21 NIV
