In recent years, today has become known as Cyber Monday, the day in which online retailers push sales to consumers shopping for the Christmas holiday upcoming. Combined with Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, this weekend has become synonymous with shopping. When we shop, are we shopping to consume or shopping to give? The Bible clearly tells us that all things on earth fall short of the glory of God, and to not put our faith in earthly things. But while we are here, generosity is one of the most important qualities of the faithful Christian. God loves a generous servant. In 1 Chronicles, King David prayed to God in the midst of all his people, “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” Everything does come from God, and by shopping with the intent to give, we not only can support those who strive to make a Christian living, but also bless those who wish to know the love of Christ. Today, prayerfully consider how you can best fulfill Christ’s calling in your shopping.

“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” — 1 Chronicles 29:14 NIV
