The upcoming vote, and likely passage, of tax reform in Congress means that change is on the horizon for all of us. The potential passage of the first major piece of legislation pushed by the Trump Administration has been met with both support and resistance—with equal vehemence on both sides. In times of change such as these, the Bible offers this: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” Nowadays on social media, timid souls are few and far between; however strength and bravery can come from many places—not all of which are Godly. The strength that comes from God gives us “power, love, and self-discipline,” three qualities decidedly not found in destructive, reckless rallying for or against the cause of our choice. When we seek God first in time of change, He gives us the power to speak for Him, love to temper our words accordingly, and self-discipline to know when to speak and when to listen. Today, rather than bemoan or gloat over the new legislation, seek God and allow Him to infuse your words with his strength.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
