As the week of Christmas continues and the 2017 comes to a close, it is good to reflect upon the past year and make decisions on things in our lives that may need change, improvement, or continuation. Anyone with a pulse this year knows it was a tumultuous one in and around Washington, DC with the shockwaves tangibly felt nationwide. Those of us not directly working in Washington or for a political candidate may feel helpless in affecting what happens there and in our news, but we must remember that all mankind is subject to Jesus, including our elected leaders. Isaiah foretold the birth of a child who would change the world and bring peace to the nations. He said, “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” That child, when grown up to a man, commissioned us to be his hands and feet, spreading His gospel and goodness to every corner of the earth. Perhaps the reason our political climate is so tumultuous is because not enough people place Jesus over political power. In 2018, take a prayerful approach to politics, and watch the positive change unfold.

“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6
