As more details of the Mueller investigation and alleged abuses at the FBI and DOJ trickle out, the buzz in Washington continues to be: What is the truth? Truth is mentioned many times in the Bible, but none so memorably as in John 14:6. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Why did Jesus need to stress these three things about himself? He is called many things in the Bible and actually is many more things than just his various monikers. But why these three things? Because Jesus knew that in the course of mankind, for God to be glorified and man to live in peace, we would need these three things. There are many roads we can take in life and with each daily decision we make, we turn down a new avenue towards a new destination. We need Jesus as our way. Next, it is well known that mankind is not a species that keeps it’s opinions to itself, nor is it a people who is innately good and honest. We need Jesus as our truth. Finally, in order for us to live the lives marked out for us by God himself, we must first have life! That life, that makes all things possible, is found in Jesus. Today, praise Jesus for being our way, truth, and life and reflect on how without those things, we have nowhere to place our next steps.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6 ESV
