Happy #ElevatedFriday! Today we highlight an interesting news story about something commonplace that is helping soldiers with PTSD recover from their invisible wounds. We all have heard so much about the struggles that our soldiers endure for years after returning from battle, and too often, treatment for PTSD can seem impossible. But a recent article about a new app called Brain.fm is illuminating the power of music to help those with PTSD recover. Brain.fm is an app that uses artificial intelligence to provide its user with different kinds of “sessions” – focus sessions, relaxation sessions, sleep sessions – anything the user wants. Brain.fm harnesses the power of music to aid in the recovery of those with PTSD and this app is continuing to focus treatments on an individual level for those afflicted by it.

The purpose of highlighting this news story is to show the healing power of music in our daily lives. For those of us not struggling with PTSD, we still love music because it can brighten our mood, reflect our feelings, or bring us closer together. Music can serve many purposes, but one commonly overlooked purpose, especially on days other than Sunday, is for worship! It is easy to fall into a routine where Sunday is the only day of worship of the week. Singing to the Lord every day, whether your own heart’s song or lip-syncing with the Christian radio station, will immediately change your outlook on your day. Singing is a direct link from your heart to Jesus’, and when we make it a regular part of our day, it can heal what other forms of worship sometimes cannot. Today, sing to the Lord from your heart and watch your day get better.

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” – Psalm 96: 1-3 NIV
