With political furor continuing to mount as we approach the midterm elections later this year, we are sure to be bombarded by political ads very soon. In such an environment, it is easy to be swept away by the rising tides of partisan rhetoric. How do we know if we are being swept away? Look to your heart. In Proverbs, it says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Like allowing a thief into our home, when we allow bitterness into our hearts, soon there will be nothing good left to flow back out. Today, reflect on how your heart may be hardened against others and pray for God to remove your heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23 NIV
