Sunday night the former FBI Director James Comey gave a much heralded interview in which he gave his account and perspective of his time working for President Obama and Trump, and the days since. Many would consider the past few years to have been fairly tumultuous, especially from a political perspective. But just like Comey, or any other public servant or politician, we all will see difficult days, trials that seem insurmountable, and temptations that promise us prosperity but yield emptiness. In these situations, our minds are tested. Should we give up in the face of adversity? Should we ignore the costs of a tempting venture? God declares in Jeremiah, “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” God tests our minds to see if our hearts will call out to Him. An earthly mind is overpowered by a heart for God. Today, being a follower of Jesus, consider how you can begin thinking more with your heart for God than your head for earthly gain.
