Making big news over the weekend was the White House Correspondents Dinner and the speech that comedian Michelle Wolf gave. While some found the speech humorous, there has been much commentary over some of the controversial things she said. Those controversial things were mostly directed at certain people in the current Presidential administration. We all will find disagreement with various people, and various leaders, throughout our lives, but when we treat them with rudeness, crudeness, or maliciousness, it is only a reflection is us and not them. In Ephesians, it says, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” This verse applies to all people — the ones we agree with and the ones we don’t. We are called to be the lights of the world but that cannot happen while we are destroying each other. It is impossible to be both constructive and destructive at the same time. Today, consider how you can be a builder-upper to those around you instead of a tearer-downer.
