Between the Mueller investigation and daily legislative debate, drama seems to consume the news each and everyday. Scroll through Facebook on any given day, and you’ll see all your friends’ commentary on politics. It is easy to be consumed by the ongoing debate. But Paul warns us in Galatians, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” Allowing our thoughts to be controlled by politics is “gratifying the desires of the flesh,” as politics are an inherently worldly construct. The danger of living for drama is that, to God, it means we are living with distraction. Today, reset your mind to focus on walking by the Spirit and not with worldly pursuits.
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” — Galatians 6:16-17 ESV
