Yesterday was Mother’s Day, a day when we all pause to celebrate, honor, and, most importantly, thank our mother’s for everything they have done for us. Mothers hold a special place in all our lives and the same is true in the Bible. We are brought into this world because of the labors of one truly special woman. Proverbs 31 famously details the ideals of a Christian woman, in part saying, “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Mothers deserve praise because they have all displayed that sacrificial type of love that Jesus himself embodies. No matter what happens in life, each of our mother’s sacrificed greatly to bring us into the world. Today, give thanks to God for your mother, and if applicable, the mother of your children and ask for immeasurable blessings to be bestowed upon her.

“Strength and dignity are her clothing,

and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” — Proverbs 31: 25-30 ESV
