More news broke in the Russia investigation yesterday, again throwing the both conservative and liberal sides of news media into a tizzy over the subject. While the new information may be called “breaking news,” it, and any other news or political debate, is not worth breaking our focus from the plans and blessings God has for us and our world to come. In 1 John, it says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” Consider what a baby thinks while in the womb. Eating, breathing, and sleeping are probably very important! But once they are born, and realize how much more life offers them, those things seem so mundane! Imagine then what awaits us when we leave this life and enter Heaven. When we think along those lines, the politics that seem so important today dissipate at the feet of Jesus like the sand on his sandals. Today, instead of being the one who kicks up dust, be the one who stoops to wash the dust away.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” — 1 John 2:15-17 ESV
