The drama over the Philadelphia Eagles canceled visit/dis-invitation by President Trump consumed the majority of air time in the national news yesterday. It was another event where there truly is no victor and more importantly, was a missed opportunity for something good to happen. When we refuse to meet with each other because of perceived insurmountable differences, we all lose. There is real good that comes from two different people, both earnest about helping others, meeting together. Paul wrote to the Hebrews, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” The Bible tells us that if we seek to create meaningful and lasting goodness in the world, it starts by approaching those different from us. Today, ask Jesus who in your life He wants you to approach with an open hand and earnest heart.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” — Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
