The primary election results are starting to pour in this week and next, giving a clearer picture of what the highly anticipated elections in November will look like. With so much talk in politics about “the future” and “the task ahead” for each party and our nation, it is easy to be swept up in a partisan frenzy. But when we take a step back from politics, and look to our future from a Godly perspective, what do we see? When Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, he began by saying to them, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Paul knew their future would be the same as his – living a life for Christ and joining together in Heaven when it is done. Sometimes we get so obsessed with what is happening next month, week, or even tomorrow, that we lose sight of the purpose for which we are here. The cause of bringing praise to Jesus isn’t a goal we set to be completed by a certain date, it is a life-long journey that takes time, patience, endurance, and faith. Today, remember that your ultimate goal in life is to bring praise to Jesus, and that goal supersedes any other earthly striving.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:6 NIV
