President Trump signed an executive order yesterday to alleviate some of the issues on the border and the hot button issue of family separation. It has been a busy few days of news surrounding this story, with many arguing passionately. Anger, and even malice and hatred, have reared their ugly heads in recent days, and as usual, they have come and gone fruitlessly. Anger, even when believed to be righteous, is always far more destructive than constructive. Anger takes away our capacity to think clearly, diagnose problems, and enact solutions. While anger may draw attention to a problem, it has never solved one. James wrote, “

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” When we are quick to anger, we are slow to listen to God. Today, put aside your anger and seek God’s Word for solutions and healing.

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” — James 1:19-20
