The immigration debate today has two very clear sides. Both sides have strongly held convictions that they believe will help others, and overwhelmingly on both sides, these convictions are rooted in honest and well-intentioned beliefs. But in the name of protecting some, both sides are guilty of attacking, disrespecting, and even vilifying others. In Luke, Jesus says, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” Jesus did not vilify one group of people to save another. He came to save them all. Today, seek to embrace people, no matter their backgrounds, beliefs, or origins, so as to allow Jesus’ love to shine through you.
