The confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh begins today and with it will come an onslaught of discussion in the news media of his candidacy and qualifications for the job. Just as in nearly everything in political life, there will be loud arguments both for and against him. However, just because a political argument may help or sound good to some, does not mean it is righteous. In Acts, Peter declared, “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” Righteousness does not reside within one political party, it resides within God and those who do what He commands. Today, seek to do what is right in God’s eyes above all else.

So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” – Acts 10:34-35 ESV
