With news and social media being a 24-hours-a-day presence today, we have the ability to be always up to date on of the actions of others — both our leaders and celebrities as well as our neighbors and friends. In all that happens each and everyday, there will always be things people do that we disagree with or disapprove of. There will also be people who consistently act or speak in a way we do not like. What matters is our responses to these words and actions. If we rant and rave about each thing or person we don’t like, when will we have time to speak words of love and support? Going further, if we only support those who act and say things the way we want them to, what grace are we showing to them? When we demand others live up to our own standards to deserve our love and respect, we are in reality demanding perfection from them. If you live life expecting perfection from others, they will come to expect perfection of you. In Ecclesiastes, it says, “Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.” Today, extend grace and forgiveness to those who you have difficulty supporting or loving as that is the Christ-like thing to do.

“Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.” — Ecclesiastes 7:20 NIV
