As Hurricane Michael makes landfall on Florida and the East Coast, countless people will soon experience what it felt like to be Job from the Bible. We all know the story of Job and how everything was taken from him. One of the most memorable and instructive verses in the book comes in Chapter 42, saying, “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” The story of Job is an important one, as it gives us perspective on just how tough things can get while on Earth. However, more importantly, it shows us the mercy of our God when we draw near to His heart. Job teaches us that whether we lose everything, something, or nothing, fervent prayer for others is the daily action that leads to a blessed life. Today, pray for those affected by Hurricane Michael and for others you know who need prayer.
