It is common today to see stories of people seeking riches, power, or fame for themselves, and our popular culture reinforces the belief that we always need more. But God’s commandments and Jesus’ teachings were not meant for us to get rich or famous but for us to be content and thankful. In reality, anything we have past what we need to live today is a blessing of plenty. We who have been blessed with much are called to give of those blessings to those less fortunate. We can give money and time, as it is a blessing already given to us. But when we have faith for future blessings and contentment with the life we have been given, what else can we give? We can pray for our future blessings to go to someone else in need. Praying our future blessings to others reflects the spirit of Christ giving his own life for us. Today, if you feel that you have been blessed with plenty, pray for the blessings God has for you to go to someone else in need.
“Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.” – 1 Corinthians 10:24 ESV
