As we near the midterm elections in just a few short weeks, political ads and campaigns are in full swing. The majority of people in our nation hold earnest political beliefs because they personally feel that the policies their candidate espouses will help people. But in supporting various candidates, we must all be careful to remember who we belong to. No matter what a politician may promise or achieve in office, nothing can overcome the will of God our Creator. Thus we must always identify first with our Savior Jesus Christ and not with anything or anyone else above Him. As it says in 2 Corinthians, “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” Tomorrow exists not because government willed it but because God created it. Realize that we are not created to represent a political party but instead a God who loves each of us equally. Today, pray for this nation and all its people to be blessed no matter who wins on Election Day.

“So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” — 2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
