Now that the elections are in the history books, there is nothing more we can do in support of our chosen political candidates. While not all are happy with the outcomes, we all can take a must needed pause and rest. When we rest though, does that mean we just do nothing? Sometimes that can be exactly what our bodies and minds need after a long period of hard work. But politics these days challenges more than just our bodies and minds; it grips our very soul in some cases. Even if we were to take a tropical vacation and relax our bodies and minds to the fullest, if our soul is still clouded by political animosity, bitterness, or pride, we will still be the same exhausted person tomorrow as we are today. The only place our soul finds true rest is in Jesus. The Bible says, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Doesn’t that seem like something we all need more of? Now is the time to dive deeper in the Holy Spirit and purge the political animosity from your system. Jesus gives rest to our souls by cleansing its hurt, bitterness and angst and making it brilliant and new. Today, plunge into a deeper, more meaningful relationships with Jesus and ask Him to make new your mind, body, and soul.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”-- Galatians 5:22 ESV
