The unrest in France over the last few weeks has resulted in riots and, yesterday, a plea from their President to the nation for peace. We see more and more riots each year when hot button issues boil over. It all results from a group of people wanting to do something because of their displeasure, but not knowing what to do that could really help them. It’s a clear allegory for a life lived without Jesus—a desperate striving, constantly staying in motion, trying to find peace and fulfillment but not know where to look. Peace comes from the understanding of who Jesus is and where your life needs to go to draw closer to Him. Proverbs tells us, “A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?” The difference between staying in motion and staying on a path is knowing where the end destination lies. For followers of Jesus, we know that destination is eternity in heaven with Jesus. Today, if you feel lost or tired from searching for peace in all the wrong places, give your heart to Jesus and ask Him to steer you in the right direction.
