The meeting between President Trump and the Democratic leaders yesterday led to quite a public argument that played out in front of the media cameras. Such arguments are common and all part of the political process, as the entire system is based on who can garner more public support for their side. However, sides are so deeply dug in that it is getting harder and harder to reach out to the other. Our world history is littered with examples of groups closing themselves off from each other or making war to empower themselves — it is human nature. However, we serve a God who has given us both the capacity and the means to overcome what the world tells us we should do: Jesus. In Jesus, there is no division nor separation. Paul put it this way, “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Rather than just try to reach “across the aisle” for unity, meet them, with all of yourself, in Christ. Today, move yourself out of your worldview and into Christ’s. You’ll be surprised who you begin to see eye to eye with.
