These days it’s impossible to turn on much television and not receive some sort of message on how to live your life and what to believe. Whether it is politicians, news anchors, actors, or musicians, everyone seems to have a message about what we need to be doing as a country as well as individually. While not everyone is selling a vision for the future, enough are that entire swaths of the population believe that a better future can be had by following the word of man instead of the Word of God. Man can say many good things and paint a picture of a good future; but the difference between what sounds good and what is great is Jesus. In 2 Timothy, it says, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” Jesus created the bridge over what separated us from God. Those who choose to believe the word of man, no matter how sweet or good it may sound, will forever be stranded on the wrong side of the bridge. Today, take a step towards Jesus and begin to cross the bridge from man’s world to God’s love.
