We’ve all been guilty of this at times in our lives: expecting God to tell us what to do but not doing anything to seek Him. It is an altogether pitiful state. Can you imagine what we sound like to God when we beg Him for answers but refuse to do anything to draw closer to Him? Waiting for God to direct you without also committing to seeking Him with purpose is like as a child throwing a temper tantrum and expecting his parents to immediately make everything better without him doing anything on his own. We are of able body and able mind, and therefore, have the capacity to move closer to God and seek His answers. It may seem obvious, but we don’t move without getting ourselves into motion. In 2 Chronicles, God says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Today, if you are asking God for answers, first commit to drawing closer to Him.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
