Happy Elevated Friday! Today we highlight a story of a charity that is using volunteers to make a difference in the final days of thousands of people’s lives. The Ambulance Wish Foundation, an international charity, is committed to enabling terminal, immobile, or hospice patients to check off one final item from their “bucket list.” Through the generous efforts of volunteers, this charity has helped over 7000 patients visit aquariums, zoos, farms, beaches, and casinos as well as visit loved ones or even renew wedding vows. Though these patients are facing the finals days of their lives, the volunteers of the Ambulance Wish Foundation each day make sure that they are not forgotten.
There are countless charities and even more people in the world who make a big difference in the lives of others. We’ve all been personally touched, influenced, or motivated by someone in our lives whose generosity has led us to where we are today. Often, when we hear of such great acts of generosity or people who have committed their lives to helping others, it can be overwhelming to think of how we could even begin to do the same. Thus, we don’t even attempt it. The Bible tells us, “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” In order to overcome the enormity of living a giving life, start with one act of generosity. Don’t be overwhelmed by stories of people doing incredible things, be inspired by them. Everyone who has ever made a difference in the lives of others started with making a difference in the life of one other. Today, find that one person and bless them in Jesus’ name.
