The world has changed incredibly over the last few hundred years — both in overall substance and technologies as well as countless fleeting fads and trends. When all that is around us is always in flux and we feel tugged in a hundred directions at once each day, how can we not feel the need to change? Add to that the ever-multiplying number of self-help books and the world is always there to tell us the person we need to be. But Jesus resisted those temptations his whole life, and in doing so lived completely free. In Hebrews, it says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Freedom in Jesus means that the world holds no power to make us feel the need the change ourselves to meet its standards. It is only through truly feeling the love of Jesus, not the pressure of the world, that we will choose to move towards the person that He wants us to be. Today, set yourself free from the pressures of the world by reaffirming your faith in Jesus.
