Despite all that is wrong, evil, challenging, and frustrating in the world today, there is, and always will be, a great deal of joy as well. Some days we awake feeling that joy, but others we do not or we must work to find it throughout the day. One of the key facets of joy that we often overlook is that joy is the flip-side of the coin to hope. Without hope, joy is fleeting; but with hope, we can have everlasting joy. God is called many things in the Bible, but he is called “the God of hope” by Paul in a prayer to the Romans for their joy and peace. He says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” When you can’t find joy in a day, start your search in the hope that is inherent to faith in our God. Today, have hope in the promises of God for your source of joy and peace in life.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13 NIV
