In today’s world, if you are not rich, famous, powerful – or at least giving everything you have to be one of those – something is wrong with you; well, at least that what so many today think. The world puts so much pressure on each of us to be what it considers “successful” that it is no small wonder why people routinely allow the enemy to control their thoughts and minds. However, while the world can lead us astray, it cannot do so without our permission. The enemy knows well that all he has to do to send us into ruin is convince us to make a few bad decisions; once we get ourselves into trouble, more bad decisions tend to follow. We can blame the world and we can cry out to God for salvation but if we do not take responsibility for our own thoughts, words, and actions, little will ever change for us. Paul wrote on this subject, “Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” In order to experience the life change that is only possible in relationship with Jesus, we need to be more concerned by what we’re doing wrong than what the world is doing wrong to us. Today, if you are struggling to free yourself of temptation and ruin, come to Jesus and in Him, reflect on what needs to change in your life. When you come into contact with Jesus, those changes will become very apparent.

“Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” – 1 Timothy 6:9 NIV
