There are so many things in our society that exist to make us more comfortable. Houses, cars, TVs, phones, restaurants, air conditioning – you name it. But in all the comfort the world can provide, it is easy to lose sight of what it means to be a Christian – love and sacrifice. Jesus went first and showed us what it means to sacrifice for your brothers and sisters and paved the way for us to grow into the person we need to be to truly call ourselves a follower of him. Following Jesus implies you take the steps He took and make the decisions He made – not just stand in awe of what he did for you. Christianity isn’t meant to be comfortable. But we serve a God who will always support, love, and go before us when we are stepping out of our comfort zone to serve Him. God commanded Joshua to lead God’s people after Moses’ death, forcing him far outside his comfort zone. But God said to him, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Today, commit to be a true follower of Jesus, step outside your comfort zone, and trust that God will be there for you on the other side.
