We appreciate weekends for their ability to give us a little bit of a reprieve from work and the cares of the world. We all tend to watch less news and focus more on our families as well as giving praise to the Lord on Sunday morning. But Monday morning always comes, and with it, the burdens of another work week ahead and the news of the world that accompanies it. That news can sometimes be positive but often is concerning, frustrating, tragic, or just overall not great. The fear of bad news is something we all deal with to varying degrees in life, as it has a way of changing the course of our lives. We dread it because when it arrives on our doorstep, we are forced to make hard decisions or cope with grief. But the Bible provides hope and strength for such instances. In Psalms, it says of the righteous, “They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Bad news will always find us, but when we place our trust in the Lord instead of only in ourselves and others, we will always find the strength we need to overcome. Today, if you are dreading something, give it to the Lord and press forward in the faith that God will provide you the strength you need when you need it.

their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” — Psalm 112:7 NIV
