One of the greatest sources of discontentment and stress in our lives, that we do not usually look to, is that fact that most of us have the tendency to live one way on Sunday and a completely different way the rest of the week. In this case, the person we are during worship and fellowship at church is at odds with the person we are at work, out with friends, or with our families. When we commit to serving and following Jesus, we cannot do this only on certain days or at certain times – we must do it as a lifestyle. Jesus said to a man who proclaimed to want to follow him, but requested time to put his affairs in order first, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” When we keep one foot in our life without Jesus and one foot in our life with Him, we are neither serving nor following. Today, if this is you, remove the foot that holds you back and get to following Jesus each day.
