Considerable amounts of “news” today is really just opinion and editorial; worse, many of those opinion pieces are meant to cause outrage more than to inform. When we read things we disagree with or that we are angered by, we have a choice: we can be angry and believe we understand the full story immediately or we can remain calm and seek out more understanding. It is obvious which of these is preferable, but where should we go to seek more understanding? Reading more and more articles and books on a subject can only take us so far and it will not give us wisdom on the subject, only knowledge. The entire purpose behind Elevated Discourse is to help readers understand current events and politics in a Biblical light, and thus, rise above the partisan and earthly viewpoints to see things from a Biblically wise perspective. The Bible specifically warns against living life without understanding, saying, “Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.” Do not live life as a mule with every news story jerking your bridle one way or the other. Today, cmonsult your feelings and thoughts with God and allow Him to help you see things as they are and not as other want you to see them.
