These days political beliefs are causing not just strangers but even friends and families to argue and withdraw from each other. What is it that causes us to hate others just because they see things differently than us? It is human nature to feel frustration when others don’t act the way we want them to, but to take our frustration and turn it into hate is giving into the lies of the devil. The devil is the father of lies and one of his most powerful weapons is the lie we must make full vent of our frustrations and hate the one we are frustrated with. However, the solution to overcoming your frustrations in a Godly way is to purposefully live by the Spirit. In Galatians, Paul wrote, “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Purposefully live by the Holy Spirit and you will live the purposeful and peaceful life you desire. Today, if you are frustrated by the things you see in the media and politics, choose to listen to the Spirit and turn from the temptations of the enemy.
