As the presidential race continues, we all have choice in whom to follow and whom to support. The freedom to choose our leaders is a unique and special thing in this world bestowed upon us by our nation’s founders. However, the freedom to choose our own path in life is a freedom bestowed upon us by God himself. Our Father in Heaven could have created anything He wished in us but He chose to create free will. Paul wrote of this to the Corinthians, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” When we choose to live angry, our good deeds are overshadowed in our Father’s eyes by the contents of our hearts. Anger is an indulgence for which the Kingdom of Heaven has no time. We can either live life angry at others or we can live life in service of one another, and thereby, God – but we cannot do both. Today, if you are harboring anger in your heart against others – be they people of different races, different backgrounds, different political opinions, or even just people who have made different choices than ourselves – let go of your anger and get busy serving them and God.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13 NIV
