The tragic shootings over the weekend rocked the nation and once again caused us all to stop and think about why this happens and what we can do to fight against it. While countless plans will be debated, some will be villainized, and others will attempt to gain notoriety through their calls to action in the coming days, the truth is that there is no legislation nor political group from either side of the aisle that can cure the ills of the soul. Evil is a sickness of the soul but it can be cured. No one is sentenced to a life of evil if they choose to change things around. James says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven." There is no better time to be the Church than in the aftermath of tragedy. The help of the Lord is delivered through the faithful, and there is nothing that is impossible when God sets it into motion. Today, the greatest thing you can do to help prevent the next senseless act of evil is to reach out to those who might be struggling.
