President Trump visited both Dayton and El Paso yesterday in an attempt to bring some healing and consolation to the hurting people of those communities. There is no substitute for true healing, as the wounds we all carry in life have a way of influencing us long after the wounds have closed. When we live broken and hurt, our ability to love is severely diminished. Many say that “time is the great healer,” but this is untrue. Time only numbs pain. When we trust time to heal us, our wounds fade from our immediate sight and become prejudices that distort our viewpoint for the rest of our lives. The great healer in our world is Jesus, as the Bible tells us that all who touched Jesus were healed. While we cannot reach out and touch Jesus physically, we can still reach out to him for healing through the Holy Spirit. Today, if you are carrying wounds, old or new, reach out to Jesus for healing and experience the numbness they have brought you be turned back to life.
“And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed." — Mark 6:56 NIV
